Prioritizing Safety and Security
At St. Bartholomew School, the safety and security of our students and staff are paramount. To ensure a secure environment, St. Bartholomew Parish recently conducted a thorough review of our safety measures and implemented a comprehensive capital improvement plan.

Enhanced Security Measures
Our campus is equipped with over 25 security cameras strategically placed across both indoor and outdoor areas. We have self-locking security doors throughout the campus, and all exterior doors are remotely monitored and locked at all times. Starting in April 2024, we will launch phase one of a keyless, scalable security platform. This new system includes smartphone-enabled applications, allowing us to manage security on the go and address the complex needs of a multi-site campus like St. Bartholomew’s Parish.

Supervision and Training
Children are under constant supervision while on campus, whether they are moving between classrooms or buildings. Our teachers and staff regularly participate in safety drills and demonstrations, ensuring they are well-prepared to respond to critical incidents. These exercises are practiced routinely, fostering confidence and familiarity with procedures among both students and teachers.

Volunteer Screening and Training
All volunteers, including parents, must complete child protection training through the Archdiocese of Washington’s VIRTUS program. This training includes online modules, fingerprinting, and background checks. St. Bartholomew School strictly adheres to all ADW guidelines regarding this mandatory safety requirement.

Ongoing Commitment to Safety
We continuously review and enhance our safety procedures to ensure that your child is in a secure environment at all times. However, safety extends beyond physical measures—it’s about creating a community where every student feels secure, both physically and emotionally. Our teachers work together to provide a safe and supportive environment that fosters optimal learning.
